A Magazine to speak the untold stories of
healthcare
Referto is an editorial project born in the academic studio of Many Matters Lab.
We developed the concept of belonging or not belonging by exploring the healthcare world through the experiences
of its workers. We had the opportunity to meet and interview many operators who choose to risk their lives daily
to save others, often without recognition.

The mag. itself
As a printed magazine, Referto spans over 200 pages with 5 chapters and 6 key interviews.
Our goal was to convey the emotions and feedback of healthcare operators through their spoken experiences.
Photographic reportages were instrumental in effectively communicating their concepts.
Narrating through infographics
A key aspect of Referto was understanding how to convey the gravity of our content.
Infographics served as an objective and significant tool, providing readers with a clear understanding
of the quantitative aspects, complementing the qualitative narrative.
A structured approach
In the editorial process of Referto, we structured roles within the team.
Each member was heavily responsible within their area of expertise.
This approach is evident in the output: we deeply connected with the stories, and the magazine
ultimately resonated as a piece that could seamlessly fit into any independent bookstore.
Many Matters Lab Exhibition
In November 2023, we participated in the Many Matters Lab Exhibition at La Stecca 3.0 in Milan.
During this event, filled with numerous readers, we recognized again the value of Referto,
both for its content-driven approach and its graphic design.
Open Call: tell us your story
To provide the necessary impetus and transform this magazine into a real agent of change,
an Open Call was established to gather experiences and stories that reveal the realities
of healthcare work..
